My oldest brother has diabetes and is on dialysis which takes up most of his time 3-4 days each week.  He has been placed on disability to the tune of $189.00 per month, plus his wife lost her job last year and her unemployment benefits have run out.  They are just barely hanging on.  My sister-in-law has been ill and has only recently been able to see a doctor through a clinic program here in our area.  That people in America have to live like this is a travesty.  I am also diabetic and was recently diagnosed with lupus, but thank God, mine is under control and I am able to afford my meds (thus far) because I have healthcare benefits through the state as part of my retirement package since I was a state employee.  But, in spite of all this, I still find it hard to meet the co-pays for the doctors and the meds on a retirement income.
