for posting such a fantastic musical journey. I am from Yavatmal rather my ancestral home is in Pusad. It is definitely the boondocks kind of place and growing up very few people outside of the district had heard about it. My aunt still lives in Wani and now as I go down memory lane I think the visitation of a white guy aka gora had become news there :) that I heard from her. A small world.

I was telling a new student about that the other day; she is from Nagpur and I mentioned that I had spent the night in Nagpur on my way to Yavatmal and Wani.  She looked at me in utter and complete astonishment.

Have you ever heard anything about the "Dhula Nautch" that I have excerpted?

      Thanks for your comment.

Question: 4-5 days after posting, what brought you to my diary?

Freedom isn't "on the march." Freedom dances.

I had read a few weeks ago that you were going to do this diary but I forgot. Yesterday I saw your comment on another diary and remembered @ it. So, I decided to check out your individual blog to see if you had  done the travelogue diary or not :).
Yes, I know about Dhula Naach. Its probably not performed any longer, what with cable television hitting every home giving no reason for people to congregate for music and changing musical tastes. For that matter, your recording on Pune Ganpati festival has major tunes from the popular bollywood tunes of that era. I remember that sometime in early 90s the Pune festival board had decided to ban film music and only play traditional music. I don't know if it is put in effect or not.
