  •  what orthodox church? (none)
Greek?  Russian?  Do you mean the Catholic Church?

If so, is your point that the church has rejected the theoretical underpinnings for its abortion position and has come up with a new justification?

Did it come up with a new justification for its no birth control position?  Because I note that hasn't changed either.

    •  wow, you don't know much (none)
All the Orthodox Churches are in communinion with each other, more or less; they certainly don't differ on abortion.  There's no point making a national distinction on that issue.

No.  It's that you don't have to buy Catholic theology to be a pro-life Christian.  Here is a discussion of the consensus position within the Orthodox Church.

Hardly a 'justification,' considering that the Church has consistently and vehemently opposed all such anti-life actions throughout its history.  There is not a firm consensus within the Orthodox Church on artificial birth control.  Some hishops consider the use of barrier birth control to be tolerable, and others are against it.  All Orthodox are against abortifacient birth control such as the IUD.
