    The Buck Jones story was one of the pieces of folklore I skipped due to the length of the diary, but it is a significant piece of history related to the fire.

    Do you know which hospital your father worked at?  There was a world of difference in conditions for the doctors.  At Mass General the patient load was manageable, but at Boston City Hospital the doctors were just massively overwhelmed by the volume of victims coming in.  I think there may have been other hospitals involved as well, but Mass General and Boston City apparently got the bulk of them.

      Dad was fresh out of med school and did his intern/residency there. He was assigned Buck Jones to watch over. It's a shame they couldn't have saved him. Dad always felt bad about that and never forgot that night. He even wrote a piece for Yankee magazine a few years before he passed away in 2001.
