    That was one of the recommendations in the fire commissioner's report, but I don't know that it was ever implemented in Boston, or anywhere else.  Regulations tend to be local, so there might have been a few places that tried it.  It may have been tried and found to be impractical, too.  I really don't have a good answer for you.
