    Xeophanes wrote, "If horses could paint, they'd paint gods as horses."  

    In other words, man creates god in his image. God didn't create man in his/hers.  Or, as I prefer to say, god is a metaphor for the self.  An explanation, or 'out' if you will, for things which we find difficult to comprehend and/or explain.

    12 steppers often cite god as their higher power, 'as they understand him', and for them, that's great.  And a lot of people claim their faith in god has taken them through rough patches.  I believe it is faith in oneself that gets them through hard times, and that praying to god is a way of giving themselves permission to succeed.  But again, that's just what I believe, and not some kind of scripture I expect others to follow.  To each his own, if you will.

    Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
