    they got smart awhile ago. Raises are automatic. They have been since 1989.

    Earlier this year David Vitter actually tried to eliminate this, but no luck. But this truly is a bipartisan issue. Neither side wants it to end.

    You will be happy to know that they voted not to accept a raise this year.

    I've been advocating tying raises to the minimum wage to the congressional raises. Anytime they get one, minimum wage will go up by the same percentage. You can bet that would mean there would never again be decades between raises.
