  •  This health care proposal really looks worse (14+ / 0-)

than doing nothing. Without a real public option to compete with the private insurers and whip them into submission, Americans could be forced to buy crap insurance that maybe, if they're lucky, will provide a discount on outrageously high health care costs. Maybe if we had any money left over from paying our medical bills, we too could buy an army of lobbyists to wine and dine the politicians. Damn them all.

You might consider hunting as a source for meat and clothing, not to mention a reduction in heating costs given that you can wrap yourself in furs to fend off the cold.

While out shooting, bag a few extra carcasses which you can post on eBay, demonstrating your entrepreneurial skills.

Stop buying books and other reading materials and haul your butt to the library, and join with others in your neighborhood to create a community family room for viewing television. Instead of everyone having to pay for cable service, you can split the cost with fifty or so of your closest neighbors.

Be inventive! Learn how to string a clothes line and invest in some clothes pins and unplug that dryer. Plant a garden, allowing sufficient space for REALLY profitable cash crops.

Put your children to work. Better that they be flipping hamburgers or sweeping floors than sitting in front of a television or a computer. It will improve their overall health and eliminate the need for day care services.

For more, really good ideas, contact your local Republican Party officials. But be courteous. You don't want to interrupt their tee times.

    •  I agree with your conclusion, though for (3+ / 0-)

      different reasons.

I don't see how a public options -- unless it were heavily subsidized by tax dollars -- could much improve the situation.

Our health "system" is full of pus pockets that need lancing to drain costs away.  Requiring that everybody buy into the current mess can only make things worse.

Free speech? Yeah, I've heard of that. Have you?

    •  Isn't the House's new CO-OP exchange plan (0+ / 0-)

the one that the Republicans have been pushing?
