wasn't in fact a prostitution festival - MSNBC now reporting that Sanford's wife requested separation 2 weeks ago.

How does that fact indicate a "prostitution festival"?

is what I mean. But you're right - his wife asking him to leave two weeks ago doesn't really affect validity of his excuse one way or another.

    •  Which is probably part of what drove him... (5+ / 0-)

to think he might be able to talk his lady love into running away with him. He was gonna chuck it all and live the wild romantic dream. That's why he didn't make any provisions before he left...he was pursuing an obsession, and he thought he might never come back anyway.

Then the lady love wouldn't do it.

Then he tried to sneak back in the country with the intention to maintain the Appalachian charade, but the newspaper gal caught him at the gate...wow, what a heart-stopping moment that must have been for him. AAAACK! The jig is up!!!
