    "the Scoop system". A rating system can be implemented in many different CMS setups. It can be poorly designed, or well designed, on Scoop or anything else. It is a misconception to think that Scoop only provides the exact rating system we have, with the exact rules we have. Those are the product of an administrator's design.

    I think people who are objecting to ratings at all are really caught in a system they feel doesn't serve them, and they are not aware that most if not all of what bothers them is not inherent in rating systems per se, it is only a feature of the way this system has been implemented.

    It would be like people seeing a broken revolving door, getting frustrated trying to push it, and concluding that therefor all revolving doors are bad - or, that all revolving doors are broken, and you just have to work around them. Neither statement is true.
