I thought this was about Mark and Jenny Sanford, not about you and not, unless you know the Sanfords, about anyone you know, nor about any or all sex acts committed outside marriage generally.  As for my "model," you surely don't know what my larger views about marriage, divorce, and adultery are because we are not acquainted and my comments here have been too brief to reveal what they might be.

My comments have been fairly specific to the Sanford situation.  I happen to sympathize with Jenny Sanford because Mark didn't merely cheat on her.  The sniveling prick had the nerve to implore her not to leave him while begging her to let him continue seeing his bimbo.  He wasn't just having sex with another woman, which a wife might be able to forgive.  No, he transferred his affection from her to his mistress, and that is something no self-respecting woman can make allowances for - a mercenary woman perhaps, or a financially desperate woman, or a self-loathing one, but not a self-respecting woman.  Why on earth would anyone as accomplished and financially independent as Jenny Sanford want to stay in a loveless marriage where affection has been so publicly transferred to someone else?  The only reason to reconcile in such a situation would be a belief that the bonds of affection that once bound them could be restored; however, Mark's behavior pretty well forecloses the possibility.
