The AP article claims that the Taliban and other Afghan militants made about $50 to $70 million.

If that is so, then we must tend our own gardens then.

Even for legal crops, more money goes to distributors and processors than to the farmers.

When the distribution is of illegal substances, one has to include smuggling and bribery in the cost of doing business.

      •  $70 million to Farmers - $2.9 billion on Street (0+ / 0-)

If that's even remotely an accurate make-up for the drug trade, then the Afghan farmers are being reamed.

If that is so, then we must tend our own gardens then.

When Obama commented on the price for Arugula at Whole Earth, he was talking with a farmer who grew Arugula and was complaining about the price he got.

Course you couldn't make fun of that so only the "money" quote was reported.

We are in a time where it is risky NOT to change. Barack Obama 7-30-08
