    Mother Mags, miss SPED

I once met up with a guy in Va. (I was camping in a wilderness area in the Blue Ridge, he was a thru-hiker) in late November; he'd gotten a later-than-prudent start at the northern end, thinking the weather would hold out and be pleasant as he worked his way south. He was unfamiliar with the climate of the Blue Ridge and had brought clothing proper for late-summer/early fall and had nearly frozen the night before. I offered to take him to town so he could arrange to be picked up but he stubbornly insisted upon continuing.

When I got back to my tent after roaming around all day, a pair of my polypro long-johns was missing. :(
