  •  my daughter and her family just got back from Ill (4+ / 0-)

and she was so impressed with how big Lake Michigan was. From the pictures it looks like they were just there for a picnic, not swimming.

We have been to the beaches in N. Car., South Cape Cod and Maine, so I guess she was imagining this as being like a lake from a dammed river in Maine, where you can see the other side, rather than falling off the horizon.

      (oddly windy today)

See my application for a Netroots Nation scholarship. If you're inclined, I could use an endorsement.

but the sand has glacial origins not typical for most beaches (Long Island excepted).

        Cool video.

The weather patterns have gone through changes as La Nina ended and an el Nino like surge of warm water moved across the equatorial Pacific.

It made me not put our a hurricane forecast this year because I had no confidence in anyone's ability to predict the changes.

Hoss, like on Bonanza, and just as big, from outside Genesco, out I80.

They stopped near Michigan City. I don't remember her talking about visiting the Lake last summer.
