  •  when I was younger I always had a bottle of (9+ / 0-)

tabasco around. in the car, at home, on the job. lately my hot pepper intake has slowed down. I just bought 2 new bottles of tabasco, and noticed I still had 2 prevously. I used to go thru that stuff pretty fast. I do cook with jalepeno's now though, and like that flavor and heat better.

Yes we did. And we will keep doing...

    •  Tabasco is boring. (8+ / 0-)

That's what I think, anyhow.  I keep a wide array of hot sauces around, but can't be bothered with Tabasco.  My default one is Vietnamese - Tuong Ot Sriracha chili garlic sauce.  First had it at sea on a research boat nearly 20 years ago.  You can get it pretty much anywhere these days.  But there's lots of others I use, too.

I had a bottle in that stuff in the fridge and the sauce was so hot that the cap disintegrated.

I got it for a friend as a joke, one of several for a birthday present - back when Mo Hotta Mo Betta was still in business.  He gave some to someone who deserved it.  (I'll skip the story why.)  It was wicked stuff, upwards of 20k Scoville units.  And it was wicked funny watching the guy suffer while trying to act "cool" after tasting it.

I'd forgotten Inner Beauty.  It's pretty good - way better than Tabasco, that's for sure!  But a lot of what I use now is in powder form, purchased on the roadside, off tailgates, in ziploc bags.

That's how things are in New Mexico.  Where the state official question is "Red or green?"  And one of the answers to that question is "Christmas."

It's different here when it comes to hot peppers.

Red is an acquired taste, and has been my answer to the state question for quite awhile now.  I like green, too, of course.

          •  I have a funny hot sause story (5+ / 0-)

I wasn't a designer sauce. Just the sauce that comes in packs from the Chinese take-out. I like a few packs in my fried rice and I was at work pouring it in when I got a phone call.

I didn't mix it in. there was three packs of sauce just sitting on top of the rice and one of my co workers decide to eat it all while I was on the phone.

He didn't get very far and when I got back he looked like he was going to die. But there was no sympathy out of me.
