  •  On healthcare, strong fighters here have been (0+ / 0-)

pushing strongly for the best compromise that we could possibly hope to get, right now.  That would be a public option plan which competes with the private insurers.

None of that includes severe regulations on insurer coverage conditions (such as, pre-existing health related to continuing or new coverage), mandated pricing structures, etc.  It especially ignores the single-payer model, which is the only one viewed as effectively lowering costs across the widest spectrum of coverage needs, among all considered options thus far.

Because even this simple, fall-back position has not been highly considered, people here are pushing hard for it to get on the table.  To make progress for the next piece of healthcare legislation that may hit in the next decade or so.

In this diary's case, if the reporting is accurate, LCV would accept no dissent from their support of a highly flawed bill - one which questionably helps the environmental situation in sum.  One which arguably protects the dirtiest pollution sectors based upon their promise of investing in false technology, among other things.  It's not even compromise legislation, but another round of the same-old, same-old: stronger lobbies get their rewards, while weaker ones get pulled back a bit.  This legislative package is not even a realistic stepping stone to future environmental progress, IMHO.

So, I'm wondering about your unapparent gripe.

"So, please stay where you are. Don't move and don't panic. Don't take off your shoes! Jobs is on the way."
