  •  Well said. So it's alright if I continue greening (7+ / 0-)

    ...our site, keeping it awash in a sea of green?

    •  The NYT had an interesting chart yesterday (3+ / 0-)

      Hierarchy of Power in Iran: One man above all others.

      The Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, possesses sweeping powers. He is the commander of the Revolutionary Guard (which controls the Quds Force and the Basij Militia). He appoints 6 main clerics and 6 jurists to the Guardian Council. The clerics wield the most power. This council controls the elections, it determines who can run, it has the power to block all laws enacted by the parliament. The Supreme Leader also appoints members to the Expediency Council which resolves disputes between the Guardian Council and the Parliament.

      Let's hope for a benevolent coup d'etat

      Good morning everyone.

        ... it would be the Chief Justice of our Supreme Court appointing new justices (including his own replacement) and commanding some paramilitary group like Xe (formerly Blackwater USA), and where SCOTUS must certify federal elections.

        It's a democracy, but not a kind of democracy I want to live in.

        Good morning! ::hugggggggggggs::
