    You lease government land for almost nothing, let your herds wander around over it unsupervised, get paid back from the government for any predation, and call it "free enterprise."  Makes perfect sense to me.

      You know, cowboys?  Sheesh.  The ranchers won't do it, but the state will.  They hire people to ride through the open ranges (leased state/federal land) on ATVs and camp near the herds all summer long.

      Amazing.  Cowboys calm the herds so even a whiff of wolf no longer frightens them enough to keep them from grazing, and the wolves won't approach when the riders are in the area.

      Seems like just a couple of generations ago we got it.  Now we've forgotten it.
