in a big 4wd SUV with two or less kids in the back watching dvds while they are on their to whatever they are over-scheduled to do next.  I've been looking for a vehicle to trailer a boat - one that when I look back I can see over the boat.  You can get an enormous kinda-late model SUV that is mechanically excellent but with an interior worn out by kids cheap.

They are normally too big for the trail. I like an S-10 with some decent tires. Small, simple, and still has 4x4. Plus you don't care if the paint gets scratched.

Ford Escape hybrid.  Pricier than a used S-10 but the fact that it is a hybrid and almost even more that I can put a client in it make it appealing.  Friends keep telling me that it is too under-powered and too small.  Most of these guys already have way too much truck or think they need more truck than they will ever need.  I can count the number of times I put the last 4wd drive vehicle I owned into 4wd.  But when I did I definitely needed it.
