Queen's Day is wonderful...a very friendly loopy crowd. It is like missing the 4th of July except that Queen's day is a bigger celebration.

I walked all day. Every body is out and walking (and drinking). You come upon the most unexpected things like the guy on a boat who was singing opera..he was surprisingly good.

Everyone is having a rummage sale. It is a big deal as the Netherlanders are notoriously thrifty.

Some beer company was giving away inflated orange crowns. I wore one all day. I still have it packed away.

Of course Queen's day isn't just in is all over the country. It is also a holliday in the Dutch possessions..

... 'cause we'd experienced it ;-) We lived there.

I hate crowds, and I really hate that much noise. We lived on one of the canals, and Queen's Day was awful.

My husband is a native Amsterdammer. He knows his stuff.

Glenn Beck seems the very essence of a one-clown pie fight. His brain wears gigantic puffy shoes and comes with a bicycle horn. -- Hunter

who are having a joyous good time.

I can understand not wanting to be a part of an overly  familiar thing that intrudes on your life. I have a cousin who lived on Bourbon Street while he went to medical school. The noise and the partying got

Still, I would be happy to go back to Amsterdam for Queen's Day. For me it is a most happy memory of a most happy time...
