years ago when I had a really bad asthma attack that landed me in the ICU. A good part if my asthma problems, besides air pollution and seasonal changes, was related to what I was eating, something that I could control. I became a obsessive label reader, with a medical background and a degree in biochemistry, if I didn't know what the ingredient was and most often couldn't pronounce it, whatever "it" was most likely wasn't eatable. I cut way back on eating meat/chicken/pork as much as the rest of my family would tolerate before they started whining about the absence of seared rare steak. Vegetarian meals with fresh ingredients are more the normal now. Although tomorrow will a meat eater's "pig" fest, literally, a pig roast.
The change has kept me out of hospital for almost 20 years. I lost weight, reduced my cholesterol and blood pressure. So, now I discover I may also be helping reduce air pollution. Neat.
