The first step to improving everyone's behavior is to improve the environment in which they are expected to perform.  Sort of like crime in the NYC subways... the first order of business is to get rid of all the graffiti and make sure that all the air conditioners work.  When people find that they are in a high-class place, they adopt high-class behaviors.

When students find that the folks in charge of the (physical) school environment have paid attention to detail (clean and neat), the students will start to behave that way.

    Don't be a DON'T-DO... Be a DO-DO!

Since we have a lot of real estate sitting empty - why not use it.  Let some of the creative use come from the students. Some of the most interesting museums and galleries have grown from large empty spaces. I would think this would be much more stimulating than a classroom.

Small businesses that are struggling to survive might be wonderful places for students to learn practical mechanical skills.

Most important - small classes with intensive courses in critical thinking. The key to their futures.

If pro and con are opposites, wouldn't the opposite of progress be congress? Unknown
