  •  Also about MJ: (5+ / 0-)

He was very self-conscious in his emulation/envy of both Elvis and the Beatles, hence his self-appointment at the King of Pop (to E's King of Rock 'n' Roll) and his pirating the Beatles catalogue.

The more I think about it, the more it's clearly 1) Elvis; 2) Lennon; and 3) MJ.

I know you kids won't like that, but tough shit.

Grodin say that we should just all admit that we are all recovering racists. Not calling you one, please believe that, but would you have accused a white performer of "pirating" a catalog or would you have called it a brilliant business move? And how would you have described what Elvis did to black music and black culture?

Max Ehrmann (author of Desiderata): Whatever else you do or forbear, impose upon yourself the task of happiness; and now and then abandon yourself to laughter.
