    They do not tend to have dedicated school bus services, but the local bus companies provide specific routes at the beginning and end of the  school day using their existing fleet of buses.

    One of the ways this can be optimised is by organsising the school day on different hours from the normal work day. Thus schools here usually begin at 7.45 and finish around three, which allows the busses to be switched for commuter traffic working a 9 to 5 schedule.

    This does however create a secondary problem of chhildcare between 3.30 and 5.30, which is sometimes provided by after school activities.
