    about this as I have with the destruction of the topsoil in the Midwest.  My county has been nearly all either regraded for building or paved cover.  We have the richest farmland on the planet.  It takes 500 years to make new topsoil and we dig it up to use for fill somewhere else.  Removing those magnificent mountaintops is simply criminal, as far as I'm concerned.  In this day and age, we have no excuse.  We know better!
