    And if you want to pose as a big tough heroic grownup  and not care a rats ass about the living beings devastated wholesale by blowing off a mountaintop.

    Because being a grownup means enjoying the creation of hell on earth.  Enjoying?  Yes, because if we didn't enjoy it, we'd find other ways to get our tasks accomplished that didn't require so much energy.  We wouldn't systematically avoid thinking about how to stay warm, or cool our beer, while using half, or ten percent, of the energy we use currently.

    Yes, we enjoy it, or else we're left with Kurt Vonnegut's rendering of humanity's epitaph as: "The Good Earth -- we could have saved it, but we were too damned cheap and lazy."
