    health reform isn't worth doing at all unless it's all this and that.  Respectfully to others here, I'm with you.  A little bit of help here and there would be better than nothing, and I'm not afraid to say it.

    Some folks on here have no idea how difficult it can be to get anything done in Congress.  I don't mind folks fighting for what they want, but if after the good fight the political possibilities come down to just doing more modest things, that's better than nothing in my opinion.

    I suspect that a lot of people who make the boldest statements about how we need lines in the sand, or how certain things are non-negotiable, don't remember the Clinton health reform failure in 1993 and 1994, which poisoned the political opportunities to help people for over a decade, and also contributed to the Gingrich-led Republican victory in November 1994.
