I had lived in Berkeley for the last few years, and whenever there was a warm night, the girls would come out in their sundresses.  The air would be thick with pheromones, and even a dork like me would be fearless and smooth.  Now I live in the SoCal desert, and everything smells like baked asphalt all the time.

You mean, everything smells like silicon.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Where did you live in Berkeley (north, south, flats, hills)?

Rented a room when I was a student.  The abundance of silicone in SoCal is greatly exaggerated, but people of both sexes do seem to put a lot more work into their appearance.  I dislike that fact, because I hate buying new clothes, and I have to shave every day and actually pay attention when I'm doing it. In Berkeley, I could shave once a week and just look like a typical guy, and nobody cared if I was "scruffy-looking."
