  •  That's a tough standard to meet (16+ / 0-)
"One of the least bright members of the Senate."  In a small club that includes Bunning, Inhofe, and Burr (among others) Sessions has tough competition.  Yet I agree with you:  he is the Compleat Moron.

"I would say to you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice!" Bzzzt! Sorry Barry, thanks for playing.

    •  Let's just look at the committee (4+ / 0-)

      Patrick J. Leahy, Chairman, D-Vermont

      Herb Kohl, D-Wisconsin
(hard to believe that he is second on this committee given that he seems to be the least qualified Democrat on it, but if we got rid of him as unqualified, we would have to get rid of a number of Republicans on this committee as well)

      Dianne Feinstein, D-California (good)

      Russell D. Feingold, D-Wisconsin (excellent)

Charles E. Schumer, D-New York (very good, usually)

Richard J. Durbin, D-Illinois (very good)

      Benjamin L. Cardin, D-Maryland (don't know well)

      Sheldon Whitehouse, D-Rhode Island (excellent)

      Amy Klobuchar, D-Minnesota (excellent)

      Edward E. Kaufman, D-Delaware (don't know well)

      Arlen Specter, D-Pennsylvania (interesting)

      Al Franken, D-Minnesota (promising)

Jeff Sessions, Ranking Member, R-Alabama (bigot, fool, ignoramus, proud to be clueless)

Orrin G. Hatch, R-Utah (used to have integrity)

Charles E. Grassley, R-Iowa (used to have integrity)

Jon Kyl, R-Arizona (makes McCain look smart and hardworking)

Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina (probably the best of this GOP lot (faint praise indeed))

      John Cornyn, R-Texas (bigot, fool)

Tom Coburn, R-Oklahoma (proudly ignorant, fool)

So, almost a third of the committee is upper midwest, four from two adjacent states. Only three of the Republicans don't seem to go out of their way to appear like they aren't qualified for the city council of a town of 5,000.
