    But if my governor were asked to a private dinner with people looking for government favors, I'd generally hope, as an ethical matter, he would tell them he can't attend because he has a hiking trip scheduled, or has to wash his hair, or doesn't attend private, off-the-record dinners with corporate leadership.

    Whatever reason given, I don't think we should lament the fact that he didn't accept this invitation.

      I'm not saying that I'm in favor of that , but compromises are made all the time ; and it usually is a compromise at the expense of the average American.

      In this case , Sanford's disappearing act wasn't based upon any ethical decision on his part ; it was a chance for him to exercise his libido , at the expense of his constituents.........
