unless you want to murder about 60% of the human population, you'll probably have to pay people not to have kids. a lot.

    good luck with that!

since the murder of a good portion of the human population is probably what will happen later this century through wars, resource depletion, climate change and the like.

you're a green, presumably, I assume you keep up with that literature. That's what it's saying.

        •  Die-off Isn't Murder (0+ / 0-)

Failure to prevent die-off because of an unwillingness to deal with "resource depletion, climate change and the like," up to and including the wars that will be attendant to those changes is most certainly an example of depraved indifference and negligence.

Taking sane precautions is the only way to go in such a situation.

because from where I sit, we'll do very little. Sure, people in the developed nations aren't really having kids anymore, but not so in the developing world.

maybe suicide is a better term. At any rate, the only way I see it (other then elevating everyone in the world to first-world standards, which the planet apparently can't support) is paying people to not reproduce. Or, we can go authoritarian, but no one really wants that.
