Pressure, tsunami like, must be applied constantly. Even then they may fortify the executive branch's fortress walls and prevail.

    After all, not for nuttin'

    NOTE: Jimmy Carter Caveat*

    *The SPACE

The space we ALL noticed between Jimmy and the rest in this photo. Indeed! In words and deeds, he values values more than the rules of the game. Think of his strong and consistent messages (often out on a limb, alone) against Iraq war, torture, I/P Conflict - Israeli abuses.

I really wish more Democrats would defend him more forcefully when he gets those chortling put downs by our punditry, often as Reagan is lauded... in the same sentence.

Should a "progressive" Dem blog dwell in the safe zones of a tame party, or should it drive a tame party to break out?

    •  The problem with Carter is... (0+ / 0-)

He tried to talk to us like we were adults and actually gave a damn about our country, Constitution, and true "American exceptionalism." I mean he is clearly "history's greatest monster."

    •  Carter is a wonderful person (0+ / 0-)
but he went into office too naive, and got "the treatment" from the bureaucrats with agendas who are burrowed in these agencies. Who have their own plans and their own supporters and their own agendas, which usually are against the national interest and sometimes illegal.  There has to be wholesale bloodletting on these people.

Carter also was unable to recognize the perfidy and treachery inflicted behind his back by those he trusted, such as Bert Lance.  He was a poor judge of character, often the case with someone who is very honest and forthright.  They just can't see evil because they don't have it in them and have never experienced it first-hand (nothing like experiencing the shaft to open you eyes).  So while the most honorable of people, Carter was unable to protect himself and protect the country from the malefactors in our own government.

There has got to be someone who will stand up for the idea that the government has to obey the damn law.

Republican = A devout believer in the free market theory who denies evolution because it's just a theory.
