    Most likely the first person killed by British troops in the lead up to the Revolutionary war was an escaped slave named Cripus Attucks. He was killed during the Boston Massacre. In fact he was one of the leaders of the colonists. In 1888 a Crispus Attucks monument was erected on Boston Commons.
