Mine have been against any kind of health care reform from the get go.

I email them once a week though to let them know I haven't forgotten about it.

Don't just email your congresspeople. Call them and send snail-mail letters too. Then email your friends to let them know how you feel about all of this. Get those that agree with you to register to vote. Help groom the sucessors to your congresspeople if they won't vote in your favor.

If you really want it, make it clear. Scream it to the hills!

Yes, a citizen lobbying effort is worth the time, but let's face it: in our current system, the money talks. But we can show them all that we mean business in a non-violent display of solidarity: Everyone who's for single-payer or public option stage a nationwide general strike for two days after Labor Day. Shut everything down (except essential and emergency services, of course.) Spread the word: Everybody, everywhere! General strike for health care!

        •  I've been wondering what it would take (0+ / 0-)

to make Americans do this for a long time. I think it would require a level of general outrage that we haven't gotten to yet.

But I really don't know what that level is or what it would take to get us there. But it would probably take work from the media, and they aren't showing any interest in doing the work to bring us to that point.
