    1. The props were for taxes that would have made barely a dent in the deficit and wouldn't have taken effect for a year.
    1. The vote against the propositions wasn't a vote against taxes, it was a vote against budget-by-proposition.
    1. I NEVER had a chance to vote against Prop 13, which is widely acknowledged as being the source of the deficit.
    1. I NEVER had a chance to vote against the 2/3 rule for the budget, or the 2/3 budget rule for making taxes.

    Californians: The Courage Campaign is working for a better budget and changing the 2/3 budget rule. Go!

    •  As I recall, Prop 13 (0+ / 0-)

      was your #3 (freeze on property taxes) plus #4 (2/3 rule to pass state budget) all-of-a-piece. At the time, most CA Democrats never thought it would pass.

      On a personal note, I know it sounds evil, but ever since prop 13 passed, I've wondered if the state needs a "literacy test" as part of the criteria to vote. <--- yea that last part was snark</p>
