    Blitzer let her ramble on without challenge, even letting her dodge questions to get her own talking points in. And, just for good theater, she was sitting in a hospital room during the segment.

    Maybe I'm missing something, but if we had a single-payer health plan, wouldn't employers be off the hook for health coverage, anyway? Wouldn't that be an INCENTIVE to hire more people?

    As for the insurance industry's profits, I couldn't care less. But Hutchinson obviously cares a great deal. They've had decades to rip off the public, and she's all for it.

      In VT, any employer who has 3 or more employees must either provide insurance, or pay a small amount toward the state's insurance plan. However, the state's insurance plan is really cheap (like $65/mo - $150/mo depending on the employee's salary). Unless the employer is about to go out of business anyway, this is not an amount that's likely to cause a huge hardship. Worst case, the employer might forego 40 cents/hr worth of employee raises, or annual bonuses, or some other expense until the new cost is covered.
