  •  It's a wonderful sport. (8+ / 0-)

    Beautiful, subtle, and often very inspirational.  Mark Cavendish's win yesterday, for example, proved he's not just a short-run sprinter who can only win on a flat course and only if his teammates drop him off within 200m of the finish line.  He had to "flip the script" yesterday, climb a big hill right before the finish, then break out and sprint alone for 400m with Thor Hushovd in his slipstream.

    Moments like that aren't "just sports."  They show us what's possible when we throw the odds in the trash can and go with passion instead of cold calculation.

    Good morning! ::hugggggggggggggs::

      that was pretty great...made me think of that poem you quoted that I had heard watching the Tour. I also like the fact that folks have to work together. Lance has been wonderful in support of Contador, who apparently has vowed to help Lance up the mountain today.

      It's odd to pick up an sports interest at 54, but there you go.
