  •  I finally got my answer on why people oppose (8+ / 0-)

the public option!  Michelle Bachmann thinks it will increase her "hassle factor".  You know, once the riffraff has insurance, they will start to use doctors and then the elites like her will have to wait more.  Ewwww, they may even have to occupy the same waiting room... gross!!!!

"That's like having a mother bear protecting her little cubs, and she's seeing that she has to move heaven and earth to get her child what her child needs," Bachmann said, referring to the health care reforms being debated by Congress. "We'll do it if we have to, but why put ourselves in that situation?"

So her "moving heaven and earth" means denying other mothers coverage? Nice...

"I think most all of us here have had the opportunity to take our kids to a fast-food restaurant," said Rep. Judy Biggert (R-Ill.). "We want to get a good dinner, and you walk in and there's 50 people there and it seems like everybody in line wants to buy food for their soccer team or whatever. The American people aren't particularly good at standing in line, but that's exactly what's going to happen if this health care plan goes through."

The selfishness factor.  Who knew?  (I know, I know, we all realized this was the real reason for opposition.  I just didn't think anyone would actually say it like that!)

I hope these words come back to bite them as uninsured and underinsured - and fully insured, but denied coverage -- moms rise up and "move heaven and earth" for their kids!!!!!!

    Good morning winter.  Many hugggggs

    •  Thanks for this, kgirls :) (6+ / 0-)

Yeah, it's all about selfishness:  I got mine and I don't want to do the least damn thing to help you get yours.

If this country is in economic trouble now, I can hardly wait to see what it'll be in ten years from now if we don't rein in the health care industry.

But then, not having insurance, I don't expect to be around in ten years.  But my kids will be.  I worry about them.

      Hugggs and good morning!

in line.  But, the fast food restaurant comparison is apt because that's exactly what fast food restaurants do--provide equal service for a set price.

Republicans keep nattering about making people equal and that not being possible.  That's a red herring.  Government is charged with providing equal service.  That's why people who want special treatment have tried to privatize it.  But, just like the schools, if people want extra, they should patronize an establishment that charges them more.

Don't deprive some people of the basics, so you can feel superior.
