called the police doesn't mean that Gates' neighbor wasn't racially profiling.  What does your desire have to do with the reality of a situation that doesn't involve you?

It could very well mean that he saw what looked like a break-in and did what he thought was the right thing to do. Like I said in another comment, I think this should be more about the minority/police relations than the actual concept of racial profiling.

If you want to talk about racial profiling, talk about the Black cop in NY who got shot by a White cop, or the guy who was shot 50 times at his bachelor party. Those are issues of racial profiling.

      •  Of course you could be right (1+ / 0-)

I wasn't arguing that racial profiling happened, because I have no way of knowing whether it did or not.  That's why it's such an insidious problem.  It's impossible to prove or disprove.

I was simply replying to a post that asserted Gates could not have been profiled because the cops were responding to a call.  My point is simply that cops aren't the only people who racially profile.

So racially profiling only happens when people get shot?  Come on.

I was just saying that if you look at the facts of those cases and they're obvious cases of racial profiling. You can look at the Katrina example that someone stated in another reply to me as racial profiling.

I re-read your initial comment and noticed the word 'arguably'. I hadn't noticed that before. You're right, it could have been racial profiling by the neighbor.
