    have things that were mine, that I paid for.  They thought my learning how to pay a bill every month was healthy, as I was almost an adult, and they encouraged it by giving me the privileged of using it how I saw fit.  They wanted me to learn to hold down a job and pay bills, so they thought it was a healthy experience.

    The you bought it, so it's yours, encourages self sufficiency, and helps teach the skills needed for adult life.
