I saw some nut on an IRC channel arguing this the other day.  It's pretty silly.  If one has seen a picture of Barack Obama Sr. it's pretty obvious that he was not what anyone in the US in 1961 would have considered "white".  It's simply not believable that the local health department in Oahu would have accepted "white" in the box marked "Father's race".

from when he was very young, playing with his grandpa on the beach... well before he was old enough for his mother to have met his step father.

The picture with his grandfather made me realize where his lower jaw came from. And the rest of his features from the picture with Barack Sr. Years later.

This finally occurred to me - rather ironic. Some years ago I applied for a position in a county jail. The application process was quite a nightmare. They wanted a copy of my actual nursing diploma. Uh, I actually have one of those 18 by 18 inch super extra fancy ones. They finally agreed to accept the official college one on standard 8.5 by 11 in. On the other hand, I DO have that original hospital birth certificate, footprints and all. They wouldn't accept that - too easy to forge. I had to write the State of IL and get the modern one. Haven't dragged it out to see how much of the original info is there or not there. If the Dr signed it but didn't print his name, I can understand why it might not be on the official modern version...

Oh wait, maybe this is why he didn't care that the Kenyan relative was in NYC illegally. She wasn't Really a relative...
