I am amazed watching my young children utilize a computer and how using it has helped them beyong words.

The way they figure out how to navigate, how to solve problems they encounter, etc.  My four year old knows how to read things, type things into the computer, the computer will interact with them and teach them in a very structured manner and mostly through a neat game format.

I can't answer your question, but I am impressed with how my kids learn by using the computer and how quickly they do it.

But that doesn't mean that you add them to a classroom and learning will happen magically. Maybe if we put some serious resources into finding good ways to integrate computers into the curricula, it could work. But when we suck so bad on the fundamentals these days, I'd much rather that research effort go into getting kids to actually learn math at all to begin with. Everyone hates math, and having them hate math in front of a computer isn't going to help.
