  •  The Waterloo of the bi-partisans (4+ / 0-)

The Big Tent Democrat theory gives us more people but they aren't all pulling in harness. Where's the WaPO focus on the Waterloo of the bi-partisans.

When healthcare goes down fighting America will play the blame game big time and split into angry factions.

There are certainly very few Republicans left but they all pull to the right consistently and even if they just decide to say no and not to do anything they can be a very big work around impeding process.
I'd like to see the WaPo investigative reporters out their taking names and kicking ass on the rejectionists and obstructionists.

If the Democrats purge their center and middle blue dogs they won't be going Republican the way the Republicans are set up these days. They will be out in the cold on their own. The WaPo could have some fun tracking the fortunes of the about to be purged.

Some Republicans are calling themselves the Greens (for money not the environment) and focusing on center right sprending, deficit and tax policies.

Good luck with controlling the deficit when peak energy depletion inflation kicks in.

The WaPo hasn't even begun to look at what happens if a Green candidate emerges and makes common cause with the Independent's, libertarians, misdirected Naderites, moderates, centerists, and pseudo liberal soccer mom security fear mongerers.

Maybe its time for a progressive party with a populist liberal base. Main Street Economics focused on housing and jobs; anti-war, pro single payer healthcare, not afraid to invest in America and to make changes bringing new jobs in alternative energy, expanded medical care, education, the fight against global warming and the protection of the environment, and strongly focused on human rights for blancks and hispanics, women, GLBT's, the poor, the underserved even if it means some socialized medicine and a redistribution of wealth.

The progressives would be pro-union but ask unions to deliver quality; something they can excel at when they want to. Reward teachers for excellence not just tenure. Reward workers for ideas that make their union workers more competitive.

Get rid of trial lawyers and cover your ass against mal-practice diagnostics to streamline healthcare costs by the government paying reasonable compensation for malpractice without a lengthy trial process.

Take administrators, beaurocrats, lobbiests, and special interests out of the funding loop with a line item veto for the executive branch.

If we don't get a progressive focus on global warming soon none of this is going to matter. Wher's WaPo on that?

His snarky diary about Baucus's "bipartisan" solution to the birther question was pure genius.

Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves, for they shall always be amused.

      Democrats are the Washington Generals.

p.s. I don't agree with your acceptance of the conservative meme of trial layers as boogie man. Conservatives just want to eliminate the only political venue where the billionaire is on equal footing with regular working class citizens - the jury trial. They don't want any billionaire crook's fate to ever be in the hands of 12 non-fellow-ruling-class-elites.

If you stab somebody with a scalpel in the course of a robbery and injure them the penalties should be the same as if you stabbed them with a butcher knife in the commission of a robbery.

If you want to claim its an accident or there are extenuating circumstances where the intent of healthcare is to help people rather than to profit that's fine with me.

The prosecutor will understand that either way its still a robbery from his perspective and only make a deal with you and let you plea bargain if you rat out your buddies that were in it with you.

The ill gotten gains of the robbery, whatever can be recovered can go back to the victims but I'd like to see that as an automatic not requiring a lengthy and or expensive trial.
