What, pray tell, would "stop" this?  A Democratic congressman from Hawaii already made all the Republicans vote on a bill that declared Obama as having been born in Hawaii!

What do Democrats need to do?  Hold a giant press conference to address this insanity??

No way.  I say let them go and ridicule the fuck out of them every step of the way as we have been.

They are literally handing Obama a second term on a silver platter.

"When did you stop beating your wife?"

Trying to debunk an utter lie is hard, because people will always believe in UFOs, Sasquatch, and that Israel really brought down the WTC.

Why doesn't he have his original?  I had mine (until I lost it in the last move).  But I was able to apply to Michigan and get a new one.

        Does Hawaii not issue them?

(also, read what CHUCK NORRIS has to say :Do it, because Chuck Norris sez so! )  I laughed until I almost peed myself.

          "original birth certificate"?

Not a certified copy, the original document that is supposed to be on file with the local government in Oklahoma?

(And what would the government do if he lost the original and had to request a "replacement" for a document they no longer had?)

          If it's
          Not your body
          Then it's
          Not your choice
          AND it's
          None of your damn business!

If you requested a copy from the state you were born in sometime between when the photocopier made its appearance (say 1978-ish, because I got one that year from MA) and some point in the last 10 years or so, you got a photocopy of the original on file, with a seal saying it was an official copy.

In the last decade or so, as the requests have gone up (increased population, more occasions where someone needs a copy), many states have gone to a simpler system. They've entered the relevant information (infant's parents' names, date and place of birth) into a database. When you request a copy, instead of lugging big heavy books of certificates to a copier to photocopy the original, a clerk pulls up the data and spits out a certified copy, which meets the standards of the state department and all US courts as proof of birth place/date.

Advantages to the new system: clerks can make more copies more quickly, the originals are stored safely and yours doesn't get torn because a clerk was upset with his/her significant other and didn't pay attention when copying someone else's certificate.

So Obama has what HI has issued to anyone born in HI at any point who has requested a copy in the last few years.

Mine isn't the original black-looking thing that I lost, it is a photocopy.  But it is just a copy of what existed before (I think I had to pay extra to get it that way, though -- I had to have the exact copy to get a job).

that was issued at his birth, like my husband did and like you did.

He did apply to Hawaii and get a new one. He posted on his website the only form of birth certificate now issued by Hawaii.

          •  Can you (0+ / 0-)

apply to get the other one -- the exact copy, like I did from Michigan?  (this was only 2 years ago, but I realize a lot changes in that time).

I'm just asking because I'm curious, outside the obvious comedy benefits, why they don't get it, post it and tell the birthers to shove it?

            •  nope (0+ / 0-)

the only kind of birth certificate that Hawaii now issues is the same one Obama got.

Obama could make a time machine, put the birthers in it, transport them back in time to the hospital where he was born so they could watch him pop out, and the birthers still wouldn't believe he was born in Hawaii.

              •  I totally want in on the time machine. (0+ / 0-)

Not to watch O's birth, tho.  shudder

I thought I read something (admittedly, it was a "birther friendly" site) that said Hawaii only recently changed the rule that says they only issue that kind.  Is that true or a made up "fact"?

    •  Midterm Elections (0+ / 0-)

There are lawsuits out there and I can see them making their way to court right before the midterm elections. Dems don't need to  convince the wingnuts that he is a citizen; they are hopeless. It's the damage done at another level that they need to be concerned with. I'm talking about planting seeds of doubt in those  citizens who read emails or the crawl at the bottom of the screen and think they are informed.
