I think a third party is going to appear and soon.

And honestly, I think it's going to come to a head in about 10-15 years, when the overwhelming majority of the Fox News demographic starts going into the ground and/or no longer communicating with the world, and the generation coming up now starts flexing its political muscle.

And that party will be MORE liberal than the Democrats and it will move the country sharply to the left.  And permanently.

I said this 9 years ago: George W. Bush was going to be the death of the Republican Party.

I am more convinced than ever that I was right.

    •  Do you mean the Millenials (0+ / 0-)

Of whom I am a very proud member, or do you mean the very young now who are part of whatever the next significant generational gap is going to be (the echo-Millenials?), who also show a lot of promise but can't possibly be as good as any group I am a part of?

      •  Well, Obama is ALMOST a genXer (0+ / 0-)

He's just 8 years older than me.  I expect the next President to be GenX, quite likely.  That means that all the generations BEHIND me will at that point be looking forward at us old fogies and waiting for us to get out of the way.

And . . . that means that a significant chunk of the voting-age population will be younger than me and reacting to the status-quo with blunt impatience.

Under those conditions I really can't see Republicans lasting much longer.  They are vehemently defending a state of things that benefits virtually no one.
