We are regularly blindsided by other people's ignorance.  What on Earth makes us think that just because we have facts, logic and reason we will win every argument?  We are losing the PR battle on health care, and we don't seem to be even trying to fight.  Misinformation is swirling around America, and we can't seem to make even half-hearted attempts to dispel it.  Just because we are right does not mean that we will be believed, you know.

What is happening right now was completely predictable, but we scurry about acting horrified that a lot of money is being quite well spent to spread lies and create fear.  Have we forgotten 1993?  The other side knows how easy it is to scare people because they are doing it damned well right now.  Reassuring people is far harder - are we even trying?

Problem is the media disseminating the fear is bought & sold by the corporate interests that are defeating efforts to change & perpetrating the fearmongers.

is not the bogeyman all the time.  The corporate/political interests that want to defeat this reform are doing with astroturf efforts, and doing it quite successfully.  The media is simply reporting on the town hall craziness since it is actually legitimate news.  The punditry I have heard and read is actually pretty dismissive of these disruptive tactics...
