doesn't mean they don't have a vested interest in the CD. They could have grown up there as a child, or have family in the CD, or have business arrangements with people in that CD they don't live in. I don't see how that makes much a difference. Granted, I'm against astroturfing and busing in people a'la Florida 2000 but that's the price of democracy.

    •  A vested interest ..... (0+ / 0-)

I just think that the residents from that District should be seated first. The residents of that District, because not every one is a voter.

I 'get' that it could get tricky with the logistics, if -- say -- you're accompanying a relative who needs assistance or something like that.

    •  Why is it the "price of democracy." (0+ / 0-)

      We're a representative constitutional democracy.

If your representative is drowned out at a town hall by out of district people, how is that "the price of democracy?"

saying that people outside of a district might have an interest in it. I grew up in Tampa, most my family lives in Tampa but I live in Idaho because I'm not a fan of cities, hot weather, and the 24/7 nature of modern life. That doesn't mean I don't have an interest in what happens in Tampa as I'd hate to see my nieces and nephew's school funding cut or my disabled aunt losing some of her meeger benefits. That's all I am saying.
