    1.  The status quo is not acceptable.
    1.  We want healthcare reform NOW that provides quality, affordable care for everyone.
    1.  Congress needs to pass the bill.  Presidents don't write legislation, and President Obama is not going to micromanage.  But he is going to be very "hands on".
    1.  The best way, in President Obama's opinion, to make reform work is a public option.
    1.  President Obama wants to be sure that middle class families don't end up bearing the biggest burden for covering the 47 million uninsured Americans.
    1.  Reforming the private insurance market is as important, or more important, than the public option.  We absolutely must reform private insurance to make it more fair, stop recission, and curtail the exploding costs of insurance premiums.
    1.  There are a lot of ways to pay for it, but the biggest way is to reduce fraud, waste, and abuse by improving regulation and efficiency.

    Hope that helps.

    A couple things to avoid:

    1.  Don't buy into the media catnip on the 24/7 cable news.  The paid media is run by corporate sponsorships, and if it bleeds, it leads.
    1.  Don't listen to the right-wing talking points.  The GOP wants to block reform.
    1.  Don't let one day's bad news distract you from the overall progress that's being made.
    1.  Don't forget that it's Congress, not the President, who has to pass the bill and vote on it.

topic long ago, in fact I don't think I've watched more than 3 minutes of it combined. LOL.

And yes, Congress has to pass it, but Obama keeps coming out in front, so that's why I'm not really sold on the "none of this is Obama's responsibility" line, but I do agree that MOST of the responsibility should fall on Congress. The House is doing its part, it's that damn Senate that's always messing stuff up.

This user is no longer hiking the Appalachian Trail with her Bar Exam study materials. . . Now what?

      •  The intentional legislative boat anchor: (0+ / 0-)

The House is doing its part, it's that damn Senate that's always messing stuff up.

Which, I'm afraid, is kind of what the Senate was intentionally designed to do.

        I'm just sayin' ...

Hey! I resemble that remark. (Although surely not the "paid" part.)
