  •  If it's not a strong public option (1+ / 0-)

    "all" won't be fixed.

And I don't see what's so great about surging back to 60%, when you could have stayed there by simply staying consistent with candidate Obama's declaration that a public option was essential.

    •  Public option in HR3200 and HELP specifically. (1+ / 0-)

That is the best we are going to get.

HELP bill describes a "strong public option" but it is not very well defined.

HR3200 simply says "public option" but leaves it up to Obama to define it. Given a free hand to design the public option, Obama could really do some good for the nation.

      •  Not many here agree with his potential (0+ / 0-)

        Specifically this:

... Obama could really do some good for the nation

It's whether the good for the nation will be delivered or not, that's being debated, i think

        •  If HR3200 is passed, Obama writes public option. (1+ / 0-)

It gives it entirely to Obama to write via his Sec. of HHS.

So passage of HR3200 as it is now written is a clear victory for US in reforming health care.

          •  So Sebelius and Rahm and other advisers (0+ / 0-)

get to define the public option, and that's a victory?

            •  Vs. Congress and Blue Dogs? WTF. (0+ / 0-)

It's going to be a battle royal to get public option passed at all and you want to leave the writing of the details up to Blue Dogs and Baucus. That makes no sense.

Sebelius and Rahm will not be writing the Public Option. Health care professionals will do it. Public Option written by Obama admin. to fix problems with health care is our best bet.

Passage of HR3200 as it is now written, allowing Obama to write the details is best victory we can get.

                Those were your words.

                and these

allowing Obama to write the details is best victory we can get.

                and these

Health care professionals will do it.

I think we both know Obama is not going to personally write it. People he chooses are.

He's chosen some not so great people.

                •  Eyup...my words..."entirely to Obama to write" (0+ / 0-)

That it is technically assigned to his Sec. of HHS is just that, a technicality of how it is done.

Eyup.."allowing Obamay to write the details"...there you go.

And "health care professionals will do it"

Exactly.  Did you think Obama was going to do it himself?

So clearly, leaving it up to Obama to write as HR3200 does, will result in a good public option.

                  •  No, it's not clear. (0+ / 0-)

Obama has picked some very bad actors to delegate to in the recent past.

                    He could do it again.

I still think it would have been much simpler for the Democrats to focus on extending Medicare and improving it. I think it would have passed more easily too.
