    air transport is about hubs, high-speed rail is about corridors. However, high-speed rail is not about standalone corridors; but about corridors that do make sense as standalone, but generate even more traffic if they are linked up. I.e. the aim should be a network of corridors that were built on relations shorter than 500 miles, but on which there would eventually be train runs thousands of miles long.
